Watersports in Scotland including canoeing, windsurfing, sailing

With clean air, clean water, over 1600 miles of coastline washed by the Gulf Stream and more lochs than you can count - Scotland has a lot to offer to any watersports enthusiast!

Inland, there is sailing, windsurfing and canoeing on tranquil lochs, while for those who want a less tranquil time there is white water canoeing and rafting (from the easy to the severe) as well as high-octane alternatives such as water skiing, jet skiing and power boating.

If you'd rather test your skills at sea, you will find superlative yachting, (with well-equipped marinas around the Scottish coast), exhilarating windsurfing (yes, we get a fair bit of wind in Scotland!) and demanding sea kayaking, as well as the chance to go diving in crystal clear waters that are rich in marine life.

Activity Scotland's water-sports members are there to help you choose your activity and practise it safely. If you are looking for a specific water-based activity, choose from the list above - or use the links below to find out more about particular companies.
